Polling for a New Name

In case you haven't noticed it yet, there's a new poll up here on the blog. We're testing opinions on the options for a renaming of this character (whose old name was a comic-book sound effect).

We're looking for what people feel is the best of the three names. The man is one of Grust's Sable Knights, a trusted ally of General Camus fighting alongside his fellow knights, Raiden and Robert. You get to let your voice be heard on this now-nameless man, so get voting!

  6. Raiden, Robert and ... um cant you get something that starts with "R" too ?

  7. There is no character so important to be named like Raiden Or any fantasy sounding name, i say just keep it Belf

  8. The fandom usually uses "Belf" as his name. I think one of the trading cards also has "Belf" as canon.

  9. Belf is a terrible name in context with all the other names. It actually seems like we are talking about WoW, with Blood Elves commonly referred to as Belfs.

  10. Personally, I don't mind the name Vergil. Naturally I voted for it.

  11. I went to the site that names him Belf and Google offered to translate it for me. When I did, it changed his name to Lip. O.o XD

  12. I think the problem lies in the number of vocals his name has, Belf sure sounds weird, but we have had several fire emblem names worse than that. Maybe Beolf sounds better.

  13. Quick brainstorming session:

    Belth.
    Beoulve.
    Beowulf.
    Belthasar.
    Belfry.
    Belfair.
    Belfast.

    These are all terrible.

  14. I lol'd at Belfast and Beowulf.

    Don't forget Barf and Burt

Serious: Vergil seems to be winning, by a lot. Funny, that's kind of what the team was hoping for. -__-

  15. Considering the other 2 names are horrible, i had to vote for Vergil too, but i really don't care that much.

  16. keep it belf and focus on the translation

    ReplyDelete
  17. and there is a chance that i can get 1 or 2 people to help you with the translation

    ReplyDelete
  18. you mean Japanese-English translators?

If they're experienced, older than 18 preferably (younger people tend to be less experienced and less mature... as well as have other non-desirable qualities...), and have plenty of free time, hit me up with an e-mail at smashfire17@gmail.com and we can talk more

  19. well one is 22 but is in japan at the moment and i still got 2 ask and the other one 15 and i am waiting for a reply but those might not want to help.If they dont help ill make them help because fire emblem12 is my favourite ds game and it be easier to talk via facebook

there the link to my profile
and you should just leave the names and focus on the translation.
like first translate the menu and writing at the start before the menu then find how to translate the name so it does not appear as japanese on the ds menu.then focus on the prologue then the chapters after you have translated the main story do the archanean chroincles and then do the other stuff that i did not point out.It that other it will be easier

    ReplyDelete
  20. and yes i mean Japanese-English translators they are the only type of translaators i know

  21. Ahaha, I picked Vergil too, but wait that reminds me of something else...

I am now unconditionally afraid of this character.

  22. In Japan the letter L is the same as R so you could call him berf

  23. If Nintendo came up with the name Vergil, the fans would go "WHAT?!? THAT'S NOTHING LIKE BELF!? QUIT CHANGING NAMES FOR NO REASON, NINTENDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

I'm not saying it's a bad name, or that you're making the wrong decision. It's just funny to me, that's all.

  24. BAH! Just give them the same names from the FE3 translation.

  25. Well one of my peeves are when different Characters names start with the same letter. Only expection would probably be twins and I would prefer their names rhyme like Vouslain & Clain

    - Dougson [Like a Star Wars Pistol called Dougson Pistol]

Characters "I made up" [I made them for a Cartoon...in my Head...Setting: Dreams...Showname: Montage...I'm letting you have them]
    - Cree [A person of both Sides, is Half of Coir & Clance, Comes from Grey. 75% Energy/75% Matter]

    - Clance [A Energy type, one with Magic & Speed, Comes from Blance, French for White. 90% Energy/10% Matter]

    - Coir [A Matter type, one with Strength & Defence, Comes from Noir, French for Black. 10% Energy/90% Matter]

    - Cray [A person blend of Energy & Matter, Comes from Gray. Blended - 50% Energy/50% Matter]

    - Chris [My Character/Actual Name in Montage. I play as a Character who controls Energy & Matter in the DreamWorld and my Dream Character is Cray. Organic - 25% Energy/25% Matter. My 1[Cray] in 4[Clance/Coir/Cree] Characters are based on Science/Periodic Table. I would love to tell someone, but I'm going to limit myself.]

Going with a Rule that Raiden & Robert[5 Characters after R]
    - Rockee [The Fault Line[Hits Enemies with Wide Range"X"]. Raiden The Yard Blade[Attacks at a Distance]. Robert The Weapon's Specialist[Uses less Weapon EUR].

[5 Characters after R & No letter is the Same as AIDEN or OBERT]
    R A I D E N | R A I D E N | R A I D E N
    R O B E R T | R O B E R T | R O B E R T

    R U C K U S | R U G R U E | R U T A N E
    R I O H A N | R I D G E E | R I M A A N
    R E Z I G E | R E D I C E | R E G U S E

  27. Vergil suits him because of the clothes, but the picture LadyTorix posted made me realize why. It also follows the "5 Characters after the first letter & No letter is the Same as AIDEN or OBERT"

    So Koodo's to Vergil.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The only thing that doesn't say Vergil is the Face, he looks Calm & Peaceful, a knight who fights with passion, and the type not to get blood splattered on his face.

  29. [Vergil, 5 Characters after R & No letter is the Same as AIDEN or OBERT] Reguil

  33. Reguil would be pronounce as "Re, gull" or "Re gil" also I saw another name that matches Vergil it was Region, but it didn't follow the so I switched it to Regino. Which would of course be "Re Gino" also there is "Re Ni Go"

    REGINO
    ROBERT
    RAIDEN
