Here comes a new cha... I mean, member.

TheEnd

Blazer told me to make an introduction post here, so... yeah.

As Vincent announced a few days ago, I've joined the group as an assistant translator. Hopefully I'll be of assistance in the noble task of translating this beautiful remake.

Don't expect to see me posting updates here (though others may or may not do it in my stead), but rest assured that I'll be working slowly and steadily behind the scenes, one support a day.

  1. Hopefully the translation speed will go by 3-fold faster :D

  3. Can't wait to see your work on the translation! :D

  4. Doesn't one support a day mean it's going to take a year to finish the project?

    (Not a criticism, just asking).

  5. One year? At this rhythm, I should be able to get the supports done in four months, tops.

(This is also a worst-case scenario, by the way.)

  6. Oooh. 4 months? That makes me hopeful 83

  7. Ohhhh.....I'm so happy to see a translation project for FE12. I can't wait to play it when it's done!

Also, TheEnd, your work on the Hasha no Tsurugi manga was amazing--I have no doubts your work on FE12 will be amazing as well!

  8. 30 days x 4 = 120

He also does both male/female and sometimes does more than 1... I think he'll finish within 6 months tops personally. And it'll probably take a year anyway with all the main dialog and whatnot...

  9. will this translation be sold in stores, or will we have to download it?

  10. @ Anonymous
Download, because it's a patch, and thus you need a ROM.

  11. No sane man sells fan translation patches, even because they're semi-legal AT BEST.

  12. Oh I don't know. You should use Steam.

Terrible attempt at being funny aside, best of luck to you!

  13. @Blazer

Ahh, I thought that he meant one a day (considering the post before this one, there are 366 support conversations).

I had the wrong idea. I apologize.

  14. Nice to see people still translating games for the DS. And Fire Emblem games are definitely awesome and worth translating.

  15. @Anonymous no reason to, you're probably right that it'll take more than 4 months but TheEnd actually does (as far as I'm concerned) 2 supports cuz male/female and he sometimes doubles up and does 4 or *gasp* even 6 once in a while depending on what he can. Granted somedays he might not do any if he gets busy but I still think the base conversations should be finished within 6 months. /rant

@Zareth yeah I agree especially FE12, it is actually a good and respectable game IMO, a game I'd give to someone who hasn't played Fire Emblem before (if only it were in English, but we're slowly trying to fix that).

  16. I'll be waiting here till its finished, as im currently playin throug all of the english fire emblem games in a row :D

  17. So I am playing through the patch right now and I'm seeing most is alright except for a few names:

Shouldn't Naga Icon be Goddess Icon since that's what it is in all of the current localized English Fire Emblem names?

Also why is Shiida's name now Caeda? In Shadow Dragon isn't it Shiida?

    ReplyDelete
  18. I think Goddess Icon didn't fit originally, but we've fixed that in our own private version of the patch. XP

In the European version I think it was Shiida, but in the North American version it was Caeda, and we are following the NoA localization in terms of consistency.

  19. I'm sure this is also fixed in your private version: the size of numerical numbers.

Specifically whenever there's a double digit, it tends to cut off the words like in Free Units, if that number is 10 or more, it's more like Free Unit

Same thing when you go to Training in the Preparation Menu before a chapter, your character that is going to training has EX and if the EX number is 10 or higher, it's more like E.

I'm pretty sure that's been fixed.

Also another thing I've noticed, mainly aesthetic, is that the box that highlights words is sometimes not big enough.

Like in the word Convoy only onvo is highlighted with the box.

Then again, this might be fixed in your private version of the patch.

  20. Huh, I don't think the last thing is. We'll see. It seems sort of (no offense) nit picky so we might have missed it.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I can take a screenshot; also sorry for the nitpickyness. It's still a good patch! Don't get me wrong.

  22. @Illumio0000

All the issues you mentioned, except for one, were fixed privately a long time ago. The one that I didn't notice was the "EX" in the training arena (this will be changed back to "E" later).

The incomplete highlight can't really be helped though and IMO it's only a very minor inconvenience (I barely notice it and most people shouldn't realise it's "wrong").

  24. I guess I'll just drop a comment if I notice anything else that you may or may not have fixed yet.
