New Year, new story & base progress

Aveyn Knight

Happy New Year! I've been meaning to post some progress earlier, but I've been carried away with the festive season and some side projects I've been working on.

As TheEnd mentioned, base conversation progress is now over the 50% mark. That's no mere feat, given that there are 366 conversations in total, so thanks to TheEnd for working on this task!

Additionally, progress on the main story is going steadily and Prologue 5 has now been completed, thanks to Agromono.

The localisation team has also been busy working behind the scenes, with over 20 files proof read at the time of writing. I don't believe these Heroes of Shadows have made their names known, but they are Illumio, Martze, Pandorakun, Ryan and Vi!

  6. I wonder, and apologies if this has been discussed before, but for certain parts (like death quotes, or character endings, or even parts of entire chapters), would it be possible to just use the fan translation of Monsho no Nazo as a guide for speedier translation?

Otherwise, great work, and I like the idea of the progress bar!

I personally don't think there would be any point. I realise it may be awkward to read and play at the same time, but if necessary, the entire FE3 script is available online.

As the author of the FE3 translation, I wouldn't hesitate to say that the original translation (being a beginner job) was decent at best and if I had the chance, I'd aim for a better quality of translation. Unfortunately, I can't touch FE3 again, but I do believe the team here will do a great job.

  10. There's also no way to know for sure that the scripts truly are the same without checking, and in that case it'd be easier to just do a fresh translation.

@Kysafen and then Bob's got the monocle too XD

  11. I want full english translation like that

  12. I used patch 2.0.1 and some of the stuff is translated as shown in the screenshots. But other parts that are translated in the screenshots are not when I load the game. Did I miss a step or overlook something?

  13. Nope, you've done it right. They're not releasing a more complete version until all the translation is finished.

  14. Added Unknown's question to the FAQ

  15. Thanks for answering my question. Good luck!

  16. Didn't even know this game existed until a couple days ago. Disappointed that it more than likely won't show up here in the U.S. but very happy that there is a group of people that are willing to work on a patch to make it English.

  17. Is it one team that does localizing and translating or two separate teams

    ReplyDelete
  18. We have a separate localization team that's different from the main team, though the main team does some localization too.

  19. Please tell me these aren't the finalised localisations. It seems barely localised at all to me, and it concerns me that I look like the only one who's noticed.

  21. It's funny how the one person who thinks s/he's smart because s/he thinks s/he pointed out a flaw is really not even smart enough to read the whole post...

  22. Dude, they're not even that far into the game yet, give them some slack. These are progress reports, not screenshots of the final product. -.- T

  23. I sincerely apologise, guys. I didn't see the text at the bottom, and I know I was too harsh anyway. Forgive me?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Localization is a legitimate concern, what with the page long arguments over names and such. I, however, have faith that the final quality of the text will be fine, as the team has already displayed a profound professionalism.

  25. It's cool, I wasn't going to hold a grudge or anything anyway. I don't care enough. Sorry if I sounded a little bit (or a lot-a-bit) of a jerk earlier. That wasn't mature of me, my bad.

Also I personally approve every text file before it's considered 100% complete and well, I'm kind of insane about good scripts in grammar and everything else, so... >_> I also have an (IMO) thorough system for organizing the localization that I have confidence will pull through if people use it like its supposed to be used (which so far everyone has done a good job of). I'll try to get the next screenshots to show proofed text though since to be honest I am not a fan of showing "beta" progress all the time.

  26. Will this fan translation uses the characters from Shadow Dragon's official translated names like example: Sheeda is now "Caeda" and Narbal is now "Navarre" instead of using some of the Fan Translated Names from the FE1 NES and FE3 SNES, like Elice is Elice instead of "Ellis" and Xane is Xane instead of "Chainey" in the Shadow Dragon?

    ReplyDelete
  27. We're using the official US Shadow Dragon names, yes.

  28. Thanks Blazer, that makes me feel a lot more confident in the project. I'll never doubt you guys again :P
