Sorry for the late post: I was so hype it didn't occur to me I should even mention it here
Fire Emblem Awakening got a "leaked" announcement, later confirmed by Nintendo of America's twitter account, for a release in North America. Nothing else is really known, but that's good enough news for me: I've been excited out of my mind!
Finally, my Fire Emblem fanaticism has been rewarded! :D
(Source)
Its glad to know that Nintendo isn't completely abandoning Fire Emblem in the USA.
ReplyDeleteI heard rumours that Treehouse is doing the translation again. They were responsible for FE7-10 so we can look forward to another stellar translation job.
ReplyDeleteSo much hype.
DeleteI believe Treehouse did the Advance Wars: Days of Ruin localization as well, for NA. If you compare the EU and NA scripts, it should give you a good idea of just how GOOD Treehouse is at their work.
So is it time for "rush to get translation out because of FE13" :3
ReplyDeletenah it'll take at least 6 months so I can procrastinate for another 5
Deletejk I started working but man these localizers did a crap job so my work's cut out ;)
Why thank you for the criticism. (glares cutting look towards you)
Delete^^ Oh come on it couldn't have been that bad..... could it?
Deletenow i have to get a 3ds,gonna start saving money i guess :\
ReplyDeleteI guess i will get a 3ds for christmas this year then!
ReplyDeleteWow that's great, and it looks like you guys are close to completion too huh? Just need some graphics taken care of? :)
ReplyDelete"Just need some graphics taken care of" is a bit of an understatement...
DeleteOuch, you need any help? I don't know any Japanese but I'm fairly handy with Photoshop and I took a programming course at my college (although I don't know how much help it would be).
Delete^probably could have done with offer like this a while ago LOL
Delete*Reads later posts*
DeleteWell crap, that was when I was home sick and had more time than I knew what to do with... I am sad now... :(
As long as it gets to Australia...
ReplyDeleteyeah, poor Australia... :(
DeleteAustralia = PAL, so we're getting it :D
Deletei don't game anymore, just been waiting for this project to be done and now i am also going to have to buy a 3DS too =)
ReplyDeleteI noticed you guys use Notepad++ as well, have you ever seen/tried this?
ReplyDeletehttp://portableapps.com/apps/development/notepadpp_portable
It saved my butt when I was taking an html course at my college and had to use campus computers.
looks like a portable version of notepad++
Deletebut I don't think we need it for any reason
but thank you for your random consideration
I screamed when I saw the NoA twitter announcement. Ahhhh, so happy... <3
ReplyDeleteWell this gives me a legit reason to buy a 3DS. A new Kingdom Hearts and now FE 13!!!!! :D
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'ma get KH3D too, hopefully. NEKU IS IN IT!!!
DeleteI heard Neku was in it! TWEWY was an awesome game. Have you played it Blazer?
DeleteI can't wait for FE13 of course FE12 translation too! Once you finish FE12 translation I'm gonna go straight away play FE11 first XD
ReplyDeletelolwut, gonna beat FE11 in one day and play FE12 the next? XD
Deletego warpskipping go!
DeleteHopefully we see the translation here finished before fe13 releases in America.
ReplyDeleteGreat, ANOTHER reason for me too lose all my money...
ReplyDeleteAh, well. At least this ones not out and isn't limited edition.
(Stupid Humble Indie Bundle 5 and limited edition Derpy Hooves, coming out the only month were i have no money...)
Must suck to spend all your money on cartoon horses aimed at 5 year olds.
DeleteLOL
DeleteStew is so funny, I wish he'd comment more XD
DeleteI stumbled upon your guys website today while looking up info on FE12 & FE13, and would like to say thank for your ongoing dedication!! I Will be following this site from time to time to see the progress.
ReplyDeleteI'm assuming you're going to release the patch on the day Awakening comes out, and then we have to decide which is better, this or Awakening. AND THEN WE DIVIDE INTO TWO TEAMS, THE ONES WHO THINK THIS IS BETTER, AND THE ONES WHO THINK AWAKENING IS BETTER. AND THEN WE HAVE A WAR. AND THEN THAT WAR IS FIRE EMBLEM 14! I SUPPORT [X]!
ReplyDelete(History books must document the [X] as the winning team, so that i can predict it)
lol no we'll put it out the day before at the latest ;)
Delete>Implying your deadline isn't earlier than that
Delete>Implying I have a deadline
DeleteHopefully we will get the FE12 translation before this game comes out
ReplyDeletelol, yay for repeating what 20 other people have said XD
DeleteDon't let em get to you.
DeleteTake your time, get it right, and if FE13 comes out before your done don't worry, we'll all still be here tomorrow.
To high five you yesterday.
lol thank you for the kind words but I don't intend to slack on my hobbies as silly as that sounds, I've been up since 6AM today hacking and I will continue to do so until my brain convinces me to sleep XP
DeleteHahaha
DeleteBlazer your a pretty cool dude.
Thi sis Great FE13 is coming o Aerica Yeah!
ReplyDeleteNintendo! Shut up and take my money! I am probably buying a 3DS and flash card. The flash card is for when I beat the game. I will download it and hack my ass off. But I AM buying the game just to raise the sales. Next to that, I started playing Shadow Dragon when you guys told us that you were getting pretty close to completion. And I also recently convinced my girlfriend to play Fire Emblem. (Not true story, she started playing because she wanted to troll me so I couldn't play. Then she found out she actually liked it.) Although we both didn't like FE11, we are REALLY looking forward to play FE12's translation. This game is so much more promosing, with WAAAAAAAAY better growths.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't Darros' 10% speed growth just make you want to cry?
DeleteFE12 is SOOOOOOO much better than FE11
Deletethat's all I have to say
In FE12 it's 50%, that's soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better. It's disturbing and if you would only know FE11 it would feel inbalanced.
DeleteHis 0% Resistance growth makes me want to cry.
Deletehow updated is the latest patch on the download page?
ReplyDeleteIt isn't. It's just menus and stuff. Many people have asked this question before. Many people have got the same answer. There is the current patch and the final patch.
DeleteDo you guys still need help with the graphics hacking? I have loads of spare time these days and I'd do anything to help speed this up.
ReplyDeleteAre the old Fire Emblems still worth getting. Im talking bout FE2, FE4 and FE5. How do they compare with FE7 to 10
ReplyDeletemost of the snes ones are pretty good(albeit most of em are VERY hard and have translations.
Deletethey're kinda dated compared to the newer ones in gameplay and graphics(but at the same time, has things that the newer ones don't have, with the exception of fe13,like playing with the children of the characters) but i find them pretty fun still,i mean,it's pretty much more fire emblem,i'm fine with that.
FE4 and FE5 are amazing in my opinion. FE4's generation system is really cool and it is a very unique game in the series gameplay wise. FE5 is really difficult, but with capturing, fatigue, and the cool Gaiden chapters, its a great game. I personally find both FE4 and FE5 superior to almost all of FE7-10. Maybe FE9 is close though. Don't get me wrong, I love the GBA games and PoR (not a fan of Radiant Dawn), but I just really like Jugdral.
DeleteFE3 is a decent game, but Shadow Dragon is superior to Book 1. Book 2 is obviously not needed after this finishes.
FE2 is actually pretty cool, but you have to be ok with grinding and some dated gameplay stuff. I enjoyed it for its unique qualities, though admittedly, I used an easy patch because I didn't want to grind much.
And FE1..don't play it unless your trying to be hardcore and play every single game. With Shadow Dragon and even FE3 Book 1, theres no point. Its super dated...beating it was more painful than fun.
Oh and you didn't mention FE6, but if you liked FE7, you should enjoy it too :)
Thanks for the info ^-^
DeleteI dont get why you didnt like Radiant dawn though. It was the best in my opinion since it was actually challenging.
Do you guys know where I can get the translation patches for them
try googling "Fire Emblem Translation Patches" lol
Delete^ That would help ;)
DeleteAnd I didn't like Radiant Dawn for a few reasons. The story was complex but not in a good way, the lack of supports erked me, and the weird availability of units really bugged me (I love Tormod, so that sucked.) However, I never played its hard mode so I can't speak for the difficulty, and I love FE5 for the difficulty so maybe I'll check it out.
It's still a good game like all of the FE games are, I just prefer most others to it (Except damn FE1 and maybe FE2)
I can vouch for Hard Mode being pretty damn difficult. Also that whole thing about being Japanese Maniac in disguise etc. etc. Part 3 and Part 4 Endgame are probably the easiest segments though.
DeletePart 1, especially chapter 6, is an exercise in patience if you're trying to use units other than Micaiah, Sothe and Volug. Everyone else dies too fast...well, so does Micaiah but she one-shots most things also. I think I had an easier time in Thracia actually thanks to scroll abuse.
RD is my favourite though, mostly because it's got the most polished gameplay in the series, imo (except Awakening I guess?), and despite the supports being non-existent, the writing is sharp and the conversations are fun to read.
radiant dawn is like a ruined cake.
Deleteyou can see interesting and cool ideas on the story and gameplay (especially on the skills) and the graphics just got a lot better, but then it all goes downhill with the butcher of the support system, the story being a mess(especially the transitions from radiant dawn to any other actually competent team),non-royal laguz being pretty much terrible(since they almost don't gain xp),too many units that HAS to be deployed, and of course, the aforementioned weird availability.
I actually quite enjoy the twists in the story RD and Genealogy of Holy War (FE4), especially the tragedy of FE4 is quite emotional.
DeleteHey guys can I help with the proof reading? I really wanna try and contribute to the translation
ReplyDeleteno
DeleteAre you guys going to make a patch that can go on a save file? I own the Japanese import and an NDS Backup Adapter Plus, and I think it would be cool to be able to play it on the NDS instead of an emulator.
ReplyDeleteuh, no. I don't think that would even work, even if we had the ability to make custom saves or whatever...
DeleteAww... Alright... (show how much I know about programming anyways, lol).
DeleteOne last question, how do I make it work on no$gba? I booted up the game and all I see is some kanji on the lower screen (I'm assuming it's some kind of error message).
1. Options -> Emulation Setup -> NDS-cartridge Backup Media -> Flash 512Kbytes
Delete2. Options -> Save Options
3. Reset rom
This should be enough.
OMG MY EARS!!! There's some kind of horrible static!
DeleteAnyways, that seems to have worked so thank you very much. :D
Don't worry, only two tracks in the game (opening and ending) suffer from that.
DeleteThat only happens no No$, though. If your PC can handle Desmume, you should consider using it.
Okay, thanks.
DeleteBut now I'm not getting any sound effects (like selecting a unit, moving the cursor, etc...)
Man, this would be so much simpler if my Laptop could handle desume... :(
Those two sound glitches might be the greatest issues No$ has emulating this game, though (other than savestates, if you're into using them).
DeleteFound a "first 77 minute" playthrough of awakening on YT.
ReplyDelete(MASSIVE SPOILERS IN VIDEO)
Looks awesome even though i can't read any of it.
We are lucky this one is getting exported because translating all the text and voices would probably be a real B*TCH.
not to mention 3DS hacking is pretty much non-existent AFAIC
DeleteTotally offtopic, but pokemon conquest is coming out, and for what i've seen it's just a pokemon battle after all...but whatcha about a pokemon AND trainer battle in a strategy game =D? So, i'll wait for the game come out and try to hack it and add chars...even if it's impossible, to try don't hurt after all =]
ReplyDeleteBut, you Blazer my friend, do u know any tools that would help on this quest o' mine?
Thank u all for the hard work on fe12 and sorry for my bad english =x
Go to the "downloads" link at the top. only the first link is specific to FE11/FE12: the other programs are... other programs I use to hack FE11/FE12. The main ones, anyhow, I use some others but they won't be of much to use, I don't think.
DeleteAfter that, do googling, gbatemp.net, and experimenting. Likely, it won't be easy. :\
Thanks bro o/
Delete\o lol
Deleteya know,i'm too hyped right now, like, overflowing with hype.Hyping up since the post you asked and now this?
ReplyDeletethis hype gonna kill me bro! :(
I feel you man. The hype is just gushing out of my every orifice and....and I just...look can I borrow some Kleenex?
Delete...If no one else plans to say it, I guess I will: ewwwwwww.
DeleteHey, how is the grapical issue going?
ReplyDeletefine
DeleteYou folk need anymore help with anything? Be it simple proofreading to basic monkey tasks. I'm solid at basic tasks. haha
ReplyDeletenothing atm, sorry
DeleteHow close is this project to completion actually? Is it like a year of work or like a couple of months? Because I honestly don't have a clue how long certain things take and how much work it is. All I know is that I REALLY appreciate all the effort you guys take and I don't want to be a burden by asking how much longer it takes. But I'm getting kinda anxious and I really want to play this game 'till it turns grey. I wish I could help in whatever way.
ReplyDeleteif we knew something specific, we'd tell you
DeleteI don't have a clue how long certain things will take either, life is unpredictable, hacking even moreso...
We're just not hyping enough. I'm certain if we exceed the quantum hype index threshold a graphics hacking hole will open and the ips patch file will spawn onto our harddrives of it's own existential will.
DeleteWhich still won't be the patch because ips patches are so passe.
DeleteOUR HYPE IS THE HYPE THAT WILL PIERCE THE HEAVENS!
DeleteKICK LOGIC OUT AND DO THE HYPE! that's how team fe12 translation ROLLS!
ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH
Deletewho the hell do you think I am?
DeleteGetting bored, are we?
DeleteYou fool! Our hype is the hype that CREATES the heavens!!! ...Actually, I think that's the team's hype. But you get my point.
DeleteIt scares me to be part of this group so special that it expects the translation.
ReplyDeletei think i just orgasmed...again
ReplyDeletesomeone order emo poetry?
ReplyDeleteyesz
DeleteIt is dark, and the night is long.
DeleteMy tears bleed, as I burst into craven song.
My head spins while my fingers crumble.
Ne'er shall I write, lest I stumble.
Here you go.
__Okay, I had this idea and also "this" understanding as a User of Computer -Don't know how script goes, but know it controls every aspect of a computer- for a program to translate games.
ReplyDelete__The Understanding__
You know how programmers & hackers say its not that easy to translate a game. I realize this while trying to edit games...I want to implement my ideas of certain games.
I've open up a couple games -Not calling myself a Programmer- with programs and notice a picture -Character Map- with the alphabet, symbols, numbers & others. I started doing this after getting bored with "hacking" games.
I've also used Cheat Engine -A Memory Hacking Tool- while cheating to Pokemon and my method of hacking the Item Type was by finding the Item Amount or by rearranging Item Types in the slots. At one point I by accidently found -Changed characters- the hexadecimal that controlled the Item Name.
I realized after remembering what certain people refer to as a Texture Map or Character Map. Why games are so hard to translate.
Because what we see in the game are Words of Writing & Language, what is programmed are not sentences or pictures of full words, but Characters which equal a Hexadecimal and then programmed what, where & when to show up. And the Hexadecimal is made not just for the upper case, but for lower cases, the numbers, symbols, punctuation marks & even spaces.
__The Example__
Hexadecimals [Below]
00 01 02 03 04 0A 0B 0C 0D 0E
A B C D E F G H I _
Characters [Above]
BAD_DEED
BAD = 103, _ = E & FEED = A443
00B3 4012 = 1
00B3 4013 = 0
00B3 4014 = 3
00B3 4015 = E
00B3 4016 = A
00B3 4017 = 4
00B3 4018 = 4
00B3 4019 = 3
In order to translate you need the Hexadecimal in its Characters in its formal word.
__The Idea__
So the idea was to make a program that takes the User -of the program- would input a guild line of what equals what then the output would give out the characters and all the User -of the program- would have to do is copy and the words into google translate.
After you just copy and paste the words into the program and then input the guild line for what equals what when inputting -the words would turn to hexadecimals and all the User of the program would have to is put the hexadecimals into the script.
Oh and this is just version 1, I have ideas for version 2;Features such as Remember where I copied from bookmarks, Add Tab of Separation, built-in Online Google Translate App or Translator.
__The Layout__
Function
- Boxes; Click on and type into
2 Boxes in each Tab
- Top for what characters look like in Hex
- Bottom for words in sentence (What Hex looks like in character)
Tabs
- From Game (Green Background & Tab), To Translation (Red Background & Tab), Tab of Separation (In case you want in or output needs to be put back in at different place)
Buttons
- Near Top Box called Output to Translation (Shows words in bottom) & Hex = Char (what Hexadecimals = Characters)
- Near Bottom called Input to Game (Shows hex in top)
Menu
- File > Save, Save As, New, Open & History
- Bookmarks > Listed with image preview [Save screen show & script line]
- About > Credits and etc
__My Wish...Though a Joke__
I can't program cause I'm not a programmer so I sometimes wish there was a least 1 or a team programmer who would listen me & make programs (In every User's dream) though I think some are worthy.
But hey certain may need to be added as from a Programmer's knowledge
Functions
Delete- Right-click on a highlighted section or background > Translate Built-in Online Google Translate App
- Right-click on box > Select All, Paste, Copy, Cut, Undo, Redo, Backup
NO MATE, WRITE A LONGER FUCKING POST.
Deleteyou spelled Rage wrong ;)
DeleteYou say that you will use the English names from FE11 to maintain consistency. But will you base them on the American or European version of the game? Eight of the names are different between the two versions (as seen on this page: http://www.serenesforest.net/fe11/name.html)
ReplyDeleteI personally prefer the European names, as those are the ones that seem to me most common. (they are for example the ones used on the FE-wiki and on Serenesforrest's list of characters for the FE11)
The European version also translates Larabel (the japanese name of the shopkeeper in all fire emblem games) to Aimee, like the rest of the series does, and who dosen't like recurring characters?
We're using the American names.
DeleteI agree with Vetle, why not? Shiida sounds/looks better than Caeda, and Medon sounds/looks better than Macedon (it sounds like Macedonia godammit). Also Akaneia>>>Archanea.
DeleteToo late to change that now, I guess.
Well, I kind of expected you to use the American ones. It's really no big deal anyway, I'm just glad I'll get the game in English at all.
DeleteHave you guys considered just releasing a V1 now and a V2 with all the perfection in place later? I'm sure most of us would be satisfied with the story translation as it is at the moment.
ReplyDeleteAlso, still gushing hype.
no premature releases, read the faq
Deletegood thing comes to those who wait
Deletedo that bro,the hype hurts but you gotta be patient
I'm just as hyped if not more for this translation and FE:13. The hype is tearing me apart. Though it is like saying, "Yeah, I'll take the game, even if it is buggy as hell and doesn't function right... I just want the story." I rather have the final product that will live up to the hype and not disappoint than me being stuck with a half-assed/incomplete version that leaves me hanging and not enjoying the maximum output/potential. Of course the game might not be buggy in this case but, I think you get the idea I'm going for.
Delete
