Base conversation progress 1

Aveyn Knight

As Blazer mentioned just a while ago, we've added a new translator to the team. This person is none other than TheEnd, who's no stranger to the fan translation scene; Fire Emblem fans may recognise him as the translator of the Hasha no Tsurugi manga. Here's what they had to say about their new job:

"Some people thought the addition of My Unit would ruin the story.

They were wrong."

If the clue wasn't immediately obvious, TheEnd will be helping us by translating the newly-added base conversations. There are a total of 366 (lengthy) conversations in all, so it's no easy task. However, having completed not one but two (and a bit) manga scanlations (one of which contained 12 volumes), I'm sure he will be a huge help to the project!

Also, images... By the way, these screenshots are for illustrative purposes only and the text has not been finalised (I tried my best to localise some of the lines, but this kind of work isn't really my forte. Arch, where you!?).

  2. Darros the cleaning pirate,

    Bantu the vegetable pickler,

    and Marth the sadistical overmind

    These conversations are so great.

Oh and typo: "Arch, where you?!" should be "Arch, where are you?!" though I'm too lazy to fix it myself.

  15. I have a question, and I am not sure if it has been answered before, but I am playing this game in Japanese currently and I have a save and all that.

Now, when this patch is complete, will the save still work and I can play the game from where I left off (with the only change being the game was patched into English) or will I have to create a whole different save and start all over?

  16. Good question.

You should be able to though you may have to restart the chapter you're on. But you shouldn't have to even do that, as long as you can get the saves linked together again they should still be compatible.

  17. If you're playing the game in a PC with an emulator, then you should keep all your progress as soon as the name of the ROM file and the save file are the same, it wouldn't matter if the game is patched or not, but if you're playing in a DS using a flashcard then I'm not sure if your progress would be erased, since I don't have a flashcard and I don't know how they work either...

  18. The same rules should apply, as long as we don't change how the saving works or do some major programming hacks (which we haven't, only minor ones) then it shouldn't be any problem to transfer any kind of save as long as it's just transferring a save from the half-translated ROM to the full-translated ROM.

Granted I haven't tested this thoroughly so I can't guarantee anything. I think I'll wait to test it before I add it to the FAQ.

  19. Actually I am playing with a flashcart (AceKard 2i) and the latest patch here DOES NOT LOAD from the flashcart at all. Just a white screen.

However it really isn't a problem since you can take the rom off the microSD card and play on a computer and it works just fine. I've tested this and the patch works on my computer, but the flashcart I have simply will not load the patched game.

I am not sure if it is just my flashcart brand (AceKard 2i is pretty compatible with nearly EVERYTHING and the game without the patch runs just fine) or something else is causing the flashcart not to load the patched game.

  20. It might be that you need an AP patch.

It works fine on my Supercard DSTWO without an AP patch but IIRC the SCDS2 has some awesome auto-patch thing so yeah... idk, I am just going to suggest everyone gets an SCDS2 because I know it works and I am not going to buy every flashcart around just to playtest and make sure thinigs work for them. XD

  21. The Japanese without the patch plays fine; it doesn't even have the AP patch on it. If it did, I wouldn't be able to put the English patch on top of it to test these things in the first place, unless you have a nifty program that can put a patch on top of a patch.

  22. Actually concerning everything, there's one thing I haven't told you; these tests are 2 months old. Now this could be a reason because last I tested it was 2 months ago. I haven't tested as of late because.. well the patch hasn't been updated too much. I'll go do some more tests and see how it goes.

  23. Ok, all is well now. All I had to do is fiddle with some specific ROM settings on the AceKard to get the patch to work. The most likely thing that stopped the game from loading is probably the Anti-Piracy Bypass was enabled. So once that was disabled for the patched ROM only, everything was fine.

  24. Huh, well, I'll keep that in mind for others, and I'm glad to hear you got it working. O_o
