I think a stray Blazer may have visited me in a dream and told me to post *something* on the blog. I'll admit I haven't been doing much work on the translation lately, since I've been busy covering FE: Awakening information on a FE fan site. But still, that's no excuse for the blog not being updated for over a month! Especially when actual progress is being made.
At the moment, Agro has completed the story translations up to Chapter 18, so the story's 75% complete. I took a sneak peak at the localisers' work desks and I think I can see them working as well.
This is just my personal view, but I reckon the project's on track for completion soon, if it weren't for that iceberg of graphical text that needs to be hacked away. Blazer, if you're reading this, you do have a plan for melting this iceberg right? I don't really want to get my hands dirty : (

i pretty much follow fe since FE 6,7 and sacred stone in GBA,
come across shadow dragon & got curious with heroes of shadow,
and dissappointed that the title didnt came localized..till i found this translation project..
seeing the progress page up to 5/10 update, just wondering when will u guys update the download patch as follow update? i tink the ver 2.01 patch is kinda left behind..
oh but i dont mean to rush u guys ^^;

ReplyDeleteI added a donate button on the right due to multiple requests (or maybe just one person requesting multiple times, haha). As of now any money will be used for the project (all I can think of is what I paid out of pocket for the domain...), if we get an excess we may split up profits between active and wanting members of the team. We're not hungry for money though so do us a favor and keep donations under $5--the sentiment is strong enough with that much. Thanks. ^_^
ReplyDeleteJesus christ that title made me jump. "We're not alive" sounds a lot like "We're dead" which sounds a lot like "This project is dead," which is especially worrying after going so long without hearing a peep.

Don't worry. We'll make an effort to get a full translation patch out a reasonable amount of time before FE13 is released in the west.

I've been diligintly waiting and telling my friends about it as much as I can (not that that seemed to help XD) and the thought that I might FINALLY get to play this one is making me very giddy XD I've been following Fire emblem for a while now (having played 1 through 11 all ready) and now the only ones I need to play are 12 and 13!

I just came tonight and downloaded your patch. I was curious about Shin Monshou No Nazo, what with the whole "create your own character" thing and all. I agree with SilverRegret, you should update your patch, especially since you've just posted about your progress two days ago. I don't want to rush you or sound ungrateful for what you're doing, but I find it hard to play when I don't know half of what is going on because I can't read the dialogue. If you've made a lot progress in the dialogue like the screenshots show, then I think you should make a new patch file and put it in there. I mean, you've had the same patch file up for download for, it seems, a very long time now, based on a youtube video I watched on how to patch my rom from October 22, 2011. Please don't get mad or get me wrong, but I really don't think this is an unreasonable request. I really do like what you're doing here.
ReplyDeleteWhy are there so many of you. The team put up a poll, right at the start, asking would people prefer one complete patch versus a multitude of patches in progress. One complete patch won. They just said that they'll be finished in the next few months (hopefully). Just wait like the rest of us.

Terribly sorry for being such a horrible, selfish, impatient person. I just found out about this project yesterday, and thus had no idea about that poll. I'm used to people releasing new things as they go instead of having their fans wait months and months for the full version. But if that's what the poll decided, I guess that's what's going to happen. I can only hope now that it will only take a few more months and will have to wait patiently, as I have waited for sometimes 2-3 years at a time for games to be released in America.
DeleteYou guys seem to have the right idea that yes, we won't be releasing a patch until its complete (and personally I try to be a perfectionist but... within reason, so it'd probably be thoroughly tested too) and yes, there was a poll, but do be sure not to turn off other members who are a little ignorant of the situation (to no fault of their own if they just came here).

The localization is coming along as well, at a decent enough rate. Hopefully we'll be able to keep up the pace and help get the patch out before FE13.

Delete(While I'm busy not being shy, I'll just quickly say that all translated scripts so far have gone through at least one round of proofing, and we're working on second passes right now for the rest. We're not doing too badly, progress-wise :D)
