I'm not so sure it means much but I've been impressed lately.
First of all, Arch left pretty easy. I'm impressed it wasn't a big deal. Though it shouldn't have been. (Again no offense to anyone.)
Second, NO ONE voted that they won't play this game. I was expecting at least one jerk to say he wouldn't just to be funny and put one vote on that part. But it didn't happen. I'm shocked, and impressed.
Third, something you guys might actually want to hear--the translations are going extremely fast. So fast that our localizers, Ryan, Vi, Pandorakun, Illumio, and Martze
Jokes aside we're kicking through the main story like nothing--I think the sidequests are at about 50% done and the actual main main story is making progress. We're also slowly working on graphics and we may have found someone to help us on that matter since you know, we're still kinda looking for a full-time graphics artist. If this person doesn't work out I have one more back-up person, then I search again, and the last resort is that I do it myself, which I really don't want to do.
...That's about it, I figured you guys needed one of my rants since I haven't given one in a while (insert sarcastic face here). Take it easy, we'll put up some screens and a video or two within a week or so, so don't go tiger on us yet.
Did you mean that 50% of the story is translated or localized

@Anonymous1 the *sidequests* are about 50% done I think. I THINK, I think 3x, 6x, and 10x are done, and I think that's 50%, but I really haven't confirmed anything so don't hold me to it. Though given how fast TheEnd is the sidequests won't last much longer >_>

Seeing how well this translation is going, maybe it's finally safe for me to play Shadow Dragon. I've been putting it off so I wouldn't finish it too soon and have to wait long to play the sequel. :3
You are looking for a graphics artist to make the text graphics? Will they be expected to be inputting the graphics themselves? What are the expectations of them? Depending on what you require, I may be fit for this position...
ReplyDeleteYou need to be able to edit graphics in general, keep images under a color limit (e.g. 16 colors, 256 colors), use the same color schemes as the images given to you, be able to take out Japanese fonts and replace them with similar-looking English fonts, etc... the main thing is the font work. You'll also need to be able to work around a few difficulties such as formatting (some images will be oddly shaped, in multiple pieces, kind of like a puzzle). I'll do most of the graphic insertion (at least that's what is planned) as well as ripping, so you don't need any hacking skills--just graphic skills.

Anyway, what you said is true. There are so many files to go through but we'll catch up eventually.
We'll soldier on and finish all the files eventually. Key word being eventually... don't worry, I'll be back as soon as my exams get over.

The games being LP'd are: FE1, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, AW:DS, AW:DoR, with FE2 and 10 already archived in the LPArchive. Just thought I'd leave that here, seeing as we're IntSys fans too.

ReplyDeleteWell, when it comes to unfinished projects, i'm no stranger- half of my friends code and work with graphics.
ReplyDeleteHowever, since I work with a differing area of graphics (Video Editing), i'm not going to be of much help in the graphics area for this project.
However, as a writer, and a very stringent editor, I would be willing to take a pre-release beta and go through it one more time as from a gaming prospective and see if there's anything that could use more refinement.
Nothing against your proofreaders, of course, but for a project of this size, there's bound to be things that slip through the cracks.
No thanks, I don't think we're ready to do that, especially given the possibility of people leaking the game and the fact that without a system to release the beta it wouldn't be fair. Not to mention we don't even plan on having a beta, and not to mention that this is a translation so we only have to worry about things from a "translation perspective" for the most part, not a "gaming perspective" as we only make the translation, not the game. xD

I just wanna say, I really think it's cool that you guys will be hacking the graphics, too. I mean, I'm playing FE6 right now, and it's super annoying not being able to read some graphics. You guys need a giant thank-you cake for being so thorough <333

Okay. Blazer, one question regarding a question in the FAQ. Okay, my problem is this. Your screen shots show that dialog, like the conversation between your character and Athena. However, I patched it and have done everything but it still translated? You said somewhere that the screenshots are just a demo. But when I go to the progress tab, and the dialogue is 100% finished, I have doubts. Help? :D
ReplyDeleteSee, the patch isn't going to be released until everything is done - meaning everything. The dialogue has been translated, but has to be proofread and then inserted into the game. The patch up for download doesn't have, therefore, much translated dialogue.
