Progress report - Tutorials 2
Nothing quite as exciting as Blazer or TheEnd's recent posts, but I figured I'd show my face again sooner than later.
Right now, I'm applying the finishing touches to the tutorial images. I'm warily cautious of how many people are going to view these in the game, but who knows, maybe they'll be useful.
I have to say, whoever designed the tutorial images was a tiny bit sloppy, because I've noticed a dozen mistakes or inconsistencies.
Have you see tne "Death" tutorial? Look closely at the enemy who just killed Luke--he starts off with half health, then has almost no health and miraculously recovers all health at the end!
Meanwhile, the "Seize" tutorial has Chapter 1 labelled as "Marth Embarks", which is Chapter 1 of Shadow Dragon. I'm half wondering if I should keep this mistake or fix it. Either way, these images are pretty time-consuming to edit.

Those screenshots look awesome... like professionally localized.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to not skip the tutorials :>

ReplyDeletei wont skip the tutorials just because of the work invested on them
ReplyDeleteVery Professionally Done.
ReplyDeleteI feel like an --- for questioning translation, but in the second screen (description of Pick Units), doesn't "Prepare" make more sense grammatically than "Make ready"?
^Yes it does, at least IMO, Vincent will probably see your comment and take action if necessary, thanks.
ReplyDeleteAnd lol@Vincent, I love how you act like your post is less interesting than my extremely boring posts. My posts are like walls of zombie text, and TheEnd, well... I'll stay quiet about his posts XD
Man, Vincent, having you work on the translation was a fucking SCORE, this shit's so well-done.
Also I didn't realize the reason you wanted those inserted was so that you could have a finished screen for the blog post, or else I could have hacked in both and got an updated tutorial script and got legit screenshots for you XD Sorry bro, just tell me straight-up next time, I don't take hints very well haha
>and TheEnd, well... I'll stay quiet about his posts XD
DeleteWhat is this
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThat text is straight from the official English version of Shadow Dragon and it seems fine to me.
@Blazer
Nah, it's okay. I was planning on using mock screenshots from the beginning. If anybody else is reading this comment and worried--don't worry, the tutorials work fine in game, but there's a small transparency issue and I'm too lazy to apply the relevant fix at the moment.
Hey this look awesome! Your doing your part in this project like anyone else and deserve credit! Good job !!
ReplyDeleteWhoa!
ReplyDeleteI am LOVING your work! This is amazing, please keep it up!
@Vincent ah, I see. and yeah I'll fix the transparency issue for you no problem bro... unless I somehow miraculously can't, then it's all up to NTG haha
ReplyDeleteWow!! the tutorials look fine, very professional, I never skipped the tutorials in shadow dragon, and I won't skip them now that I play this game, even if it's the same text, simply because you have done an excellent job in translating them =D
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, all of you have donde an excellent job with the translation, I simply can't wait to see how the final product will be...I'm sure it will worth all the wait hehe XD
Hey I use the tutorial screens anyway, even if I already know how to use the game.
ReplyDeleteAlso with the localization, we're doing fine. We're really caught up with how many files there are on the files list. There used to be a huge list of files we hadn't started yet and now there's just a few.
I don no y I boter too sey tis, cas no on lisens, bot tis transaltion brok mi pc! Jus warening u, evan tho u wont lisen.
ReplyDeletepretty good the progress keep it up :)
ReplyDelete@Stew
ReplyDeleteI had no problems whatsoever with my PC when I used it so either you did something wrong or your full of crap. If it's the latter then please take your terrible grammar somewhere else.
And on that note keep up the great work Knight
I know.
DeleteMy pc will break from looking at it to hard.
And when something puts me in a bad mood, I tend to take it out on everything, even something awesome with few faults.
Also, I make lots of typos.
Disregard anything I say if it's full of typos.
Stew... I love you.
DeleteStew!
DeleteNever change. Promise me this. Now and forever.
No, Stew, do change. Really do change.
DeleteWhy? He's this untapped fount of hilarity we've only just discovered.
DeleteNot sure if thats a good thing...
Deletelolololol so funny
ReplyDeleteGuys...I know this comment has nothing to do with the blog post, but who's been on Serenes? FE13 is confirmed for release in Europe!
ReplyDeleteYup... Although it's great news, at the same time it's pretty much the last nail in the coffin as far as FE12's localization is concerned.
DeleteAll the more reason for you guys to keep up the awesome work.
It's funny, though... since FE13 might be connected to FE3/12's story somehow.
DeleteIf it's set for Europe, then it'll probably come to america!!! Holy crap this is great news!

That trailer is so amazing that it hurts.
Deleteso are you guys going to open up a forum?
ReplyDeletewe could keep it up even after you finish the translation so we can like. discuss strategies and stuff. please? ._,
I'm thinking about it. While I can do it, ATM I don't have the time, and also we need moderators and people to help, not just members. Almost 80% said that we should make one (even if only ~40% said they'd actually use it) so it's tempting but yeah, we'll see. I'm kind of crazy about organization so it'd have to be well-organized. XP
ReplyDeleteI suppose you could always just have a thread on a fairly big gaming site like GBATemp or something similar. That way people have a thread, and you guys don't have to moderate it.
Deletewe have one on GBATemp, it died fairly quickly
DeleteHi all, it's great that you're doing this. I was wondering (and you probably get this question a lot, but I didn't see it in the FAQ) if you might eventually be doing a patch that Mac users can use, like an ips file? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'll do everything I can to give some way to have Mac users use the patch. IPS files don't work though, NDS patches don't work the same as GBA and other older system patches. There should be other alternatives though and I plan on having them researched for the next/final release.
DeleteThanks! Regardless of whether or not there's a Mac version in the end, I look forward to seeing what you all do. :)
DeleteYou guys are doing an extremely good job and on behalf of all the fire emblem fan: THANK YOU. P.S:do you have an estimated time on when the translation might be ready. Thank you and keep up the good work !!!
ReplyDeleteno we know it's a common question so we would have put up an answer already if we had one
DeleteI must say that I found the post relevant to my subject area.
ReplyDeleteI think the reason reading is fun is because it is a post related.
ReplyDeleteWow, amazing blog format! How long have you been blogging for.
ReplyDeleteIt’s remarkable to discover somebody who has an admitted thought on this point.
