The reason why this didn't get localised

Aveyn Knight

See this little Japanese text?

This is of course pretty straightforward to translate and it means "Father and child". Trouble is, the image I showed is the only available space you get to write "Father and child".

So... er...

But in all seriousness, if Nintendo translated this game, they'd be able to rearrange the graphics to make space, but I'm just a humble wannabe graphic hacker : (

...And in brighter news, I've made a few leaps and bounds with regards to the dictionary graphics. If everything goes to plan, I should able to show some progress soon.

  2. Just so you know, most of us arn't bothered by small imperfections like that being in the final release. If people can understand the story and the inventory without any missingno's appearing I think we'll be more than happy.

Also, still gushing hype all over the carpet like a bro.

    1. Hype is really hard to get out of carpets, man. Stains like a bitch.

    2. That's why I simply have to hype the WHOLE CARPET so it just looks like a colouring job.

  3. Psh, you can definitely fit "Father and child" into that space. It could totally fit. Stop being a wuss and plop it in like you're playing Tetris.

Extreme dose of sarcasm aside, good luck to all of you, and thank you very much for getting this far. Graphics hacking is indeed no fun at all, which is why I tend to try and just pretend it doesn't exist. Or shove it onto somebody else. Anyhow, don't worry about showing any progress or anything like that. It may not take too long to do so, but I don't want any of you to feel worried that you have to give us bits and pieces to keep us fulfilled and away from your throats like we're savage dogs. We all know you're working very hard, so there's no need to post progress so often. Unless you're trying to sate the metaphorical hunger of some who belong in the anon horde, in which case I definitely understand. Some people can a bit snappy, I guess.

  4. Well, I wouldn't mind something written very small.
That being said, thank you for doing the shitty work :)
    Good job so far!

  7. thank you very for the effort ur doing ,and as basjon said , u ain't an electonical studio or something , if we can just understand the dialogues and the story this will be fair enough!

  8. Else you could put "F&C" in there and give a note about its full form somewhere. You can do anything if you have the will.

  11. I think TheEnexRebirth has a good idea to help. Maybe you could implement that in, Aveyn?

  12. Part of the problem is the context of the image. If we make it small enough we may be able to fit it but there are still matters of it... looking good amongst other things.

Still, we'll do what we can. Enex, thanks for the idea bud, I'll make sure Vincent sees it (though he'll probably see it for himself before I have to tell him).

  13. No offense to you guys and I love the work that you are doing, but I bet most of us dont care for such insignificant things. I (and I believe a lot of others as well) just want to play the main story translated. Everything else really is not that important.

    3. well, even if you don't care, I sure do :P I want to play this game in English just as much if not more than you guys (considering all the time I've put into this... XP)

  15. Just remembered I still need to finish Gaiden before this project is completed so I get all of Camus/Zeke/Sirius' story.

  16. Keep up the good work guys!!! (and/or girls)...
But it seems when I patch my rom it turns from 128mb to 82.1mb and only the first letter of the characters name appears.

Still a great job anyways XD

    1. there is at least one girl in our team, maybe two if the other one decides to be active ;P

and yes it decreases the size because the game only actually uses 128MB. In the final version I may or may not fix this to add the unnecessary extra data. *shrug*

And the first letter problem will be fixed for the final patch, the current one is of course just a demo to help those who don't want to or can't want for the full translation patch

  17. The only place where this one occurs is the connection between Maris and Dice, right*? Perhaps if there's no other option, you could do something along the lines of just having it say "Father", then altering the bidirectional arrow pointing between the two to be a one-way arrow pointing from Dice toward Maris? It's a far less elegant solution, certainly, but if it gets that impossible...

*obviously they're not the only father/child pair in the Archanea canon, but other father characters like Cornelius, Osmond, Mostyn or Miloah don't make an appearance in these charts
