Cryptic Post No. 2

Aveyn Knight

Hi all. Progress is going great, but sadly I've caught myself a cold so I've temporarily halted work.

I'm not sure what the other team members think, but I'm planning to withhold posting concrete details about the current progress, especially as we near the final leg of the project. I mean, I could tell you, but it's not going to make the patch come out any sooner : P

While I have doubts this situation would occur, there's the remote possibility that Nintendo may send us a C&D and I definitely don't want to risk wasting everybody's (and my) efforts and hard work on. So for now, I'll try not to spoil too much, in case we end up on (all?) the gaming news sites like a certain prosecuting attorney.

Also... ?!

  1. I'm just curious, why don't the other staffers ever make blog posts?

    3. they do, but Vincent is doing most of the work now, so he has the most to say, and meh, TheEnd/Agro/everyone else usually try not to make updates unless they're really major or pointful (whereas I did it as to stop people from bitching about how there aren't enough updates and shit and then I took all the shit about how I make pointless updates rofl, there's now winning =P)

  2. Um.. a translation of a game or a text file/patch isn't copyrighted by Nintendo. You guys would own all rights for the patch. It's only if and if you distributed the ROM along side with it or an emulated version of the game somehow that you would "break the law".

    2. Yeah honestly if Nintendo wanted they could easily convince a judge to stop it. Actually it's happened before so there is that.

    1. yeah but that's different,it was basically a remake of the game in 3d and all
      translation projects are 100% safe,i mean,i've never seen a c/d on translations
heck, new pokemons are translated incredibly fast even before the game gets here, and they aren't stopped

    2. sorry anonymous... but if a game haz a different story itz not a remake.... the game took place 5yearz after the eventz in chrono trigger.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrono_Trigger:_Crimson_Echoes az thiz wiki explainz... the only thing that waz the same waz the game engine used and the characterz.... but my previous point waz the fact that a major game company killed an "almost complete" project

    3. does everything have to end with a "z" rofl?

    4. The guy is against the excessive use of the letter s. Nothing wrong with that.

    5. that's the thing jimmy,there were 2chrono projects
one where they were making a sort of remake of the original game, making it 3d and all
the other is that,a fan made sequel of the game which i have no idea why would they be c/d,since it was a FAN MADE sequel.
      translations are still 100% safe

  9. Personally i think if Nintendo stops this translation,
they're going to be staring hell right in the face.
They couldn't be bothered doing it for us and now
we have ninjas working miracles for us! ^-^
they do have the means to win in a court battle to stop this
from being completed, but they'll lose face with their fans.
And are they really willing to take that risk? I think not.

    1. Fire Emblems typically sell under 500k an iteration worldwide. Scared Stones, Shadow Dragon, and some SNES iterations are the only ones to sell over 500k (Although Awakening has sold close to 500k in Japan alone, and I say has a chance to be the first FE game to break 1 million).

There isn't a huge loss in fans. While Fire Emblem has a strong fanbase (just like Mother and Chrono Trigger), it's not large. Which is a shame, but if Nintendo wants to file a C&D (Which I doubt they will) they could.

Like someone else said, Nintendo has no plans to localize this game, there is no money lost. It only builds hype.

translations are pretty much safe from c&d

  11. Curious, what does the last part about the prosecutor mean? Is it a real prosecutor that always makes a stink out of these things or is it something like a Miles Edgeworth 2 translation that I never heard about? Sorry for being so outta the loop XP

  14. I got myself a limited edition blue Nintendo DS for this, I can't wait! (^w^)

As for fears over C&D letters... right.

The chances of this getting an official English release are... slim to none. Because of that, Nintendo wouldn't really be losing any money, just as much as the Mother 3 English Translation wouldn't have them lose any money. It'd be a supreme waste of time and money to pursue legal action against this patch when they'd rather put the money towards marketing the 3DS after its monumental sales failures, and in addition, the C&D can only sway fans away from Nintendo, something Nintendo REALLY doesn't want if they want fans to invest in the 3DS, and the soon-to-be-released Wii U.

I can't speak for Nintendo, but this is how I see it.

  16. Keep up the Good Work! The haul is almost over, let's hope Nintendo doesn't go Apeshit.

Once I beat this game, then I can finally start looking forward to Fire Emblem Awakening, and maybe even get a 3DS. Well as soon as there release a solid colour 3DS XL (Who wants half red/blue and half black? Give me just black please).

  17. Clue: 156 and 3
    1. Three, as in FE3: http://serenesforest.net/fe3/
which is the game that was remade and now being translated (btw <3 FE12 translation team).
Why serenesforest? because it its listed as Aveyn's my web page http://www.blogger.com/profile/05745766457235983036

    2. Six as in the 6th link ie character introduction.
Why 6? because I started at 3 and am going backwards (makes things convenient too)

    3. Five as in 5th character ie the "Abel" row

    4. One as in 1st word/picture ie Abel

In conclusion i think that clue number 2 is Abel. Combined with my last guess that gives "kni kni Abel", or "Aveyn Knight able". I'm half expecting clue three to be a 2. Now to play the waiting game and find out how off i am.

    3. Aveyn said he wasn't gonna explain exactly what his cryptic posts meant, although TheEnd said they'd announce whatever Aveyn is going on about at a later time.

and your post is probably really off (going backwards? really?), Aveyn's probably just noting the progress of the convos. or he's just really insecure about his eyes and wanted all of us to know.

~anon who posted about the "108" first

  20. Look everyone, Nintendo could actually issue a C&D simply because you can't use this patch without a ROM. Therefore, this encourages possession and use of a ROM which is more that enough for *ANY* company to issue one. Let's all cross our fingers because that is about all we can do.
